ABOUT DR. Pientka

Dr. Pientka is a fellowship trained Hand, Wrist, & Microvascular surgeon who proudly treats North Texas. Our office provides the full spectrum of care for hand, wrist, and upper extremity conditions. On site x-ray and fluoroscopy offer fast and convenient imaging options. ​ We also have easily accessible hand therapy available with certified hand therapists dedicated to helping you regain your strength, motion, and independence. ​ Our team will treat you respectfully, promptly, and with the highest level of care and expertise. ​
 
Dr. Pientka graduated magna cum laude from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY, where he served as a captain of the track & field team as a stand-out javelin thrower. He then attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Subsequently, he completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the JPS Health Network Orthopaedic Surgery Residency in Fort Worth, TX before completing a fellowship in Plastic Hand & Microvascular surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. ​
 
Dr. Pientka is an assistant professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Associate Residency Director at the JPS Health Network Orthopaedic Surgery Residency, where he is involved in the education of the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. He is also actively involved in research looking to improve patient outcomes after hand and wrist surgery including improved postoperative pain control, as well as hand and wrist trauma. Dr. Pientka has published extensively on Kienbock Disease and Midcarpal Instability and is a leading expert on the topics having been invited to lecture at several national and international hand conferences on the topics. ​
 
Dr. Pientka has also served as the official orthopaedic surgeon for Texas Motor Speedway, and provided orthopaedic care for the NASCAR Monster Energy Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and INDYCAR as a member of the Texas Motor Speedway Trauma Team.
